Each year, I take my children out on or around their birthdays and we take pictures. I like to remember the "date" we have each year to go out and shoot, and I remember very well each time I've done this.
This year, Elias and Rowan went together to get pictures taken since I somehow didn't get Rowan's pictures done in January. We're fortunate to have a gorgeous field near our home that I have to take advantage of during the winter (as that's the only time it's pretty). I'm also very fortunate to have children who like to have their pictures taken.
Elias asked if he could pick out his shirt (in past years, I've told him what he has to wear). I think he picked great. This is one of his favorites- "old school tapes" as he calls them.
When I look at these images, I fall in love with this boy over and over again. He's such a good person, and has such an old soul. He consistently amazes me with the depth of the questions he asks and the topics he brings up. I don't doubt that Elias will be a source for good in this world. Happy 7th birthday, buddy. I love you!

Elias thought it would be nice to make Rowan a bouquet of wildflowers. Her face cracks me up... but his sincerity melts me.
Rowan asked for a chance to take a picture (and how I relinquished a few thousand dollars worth of photographic equipment into the hands of a 4-year old, I know not), but what she captured is absolutely so priceless to me. Thank you for this gift, Rowan.
