Robin & Jen :: Their family, and Beloved, in Newport

I love these pictures for so many reasons.
1. I love this family.
2. I love the expressions and story they tell.
3. This is what I do-- these are the sessions that make my heart sing. I love it when a family, or couple, will just play while I document it.

This is what I do.

My goal is always this :: that when people look back at the pictures I take, they will remember the exact thing that made them laugh so hard, or the words that made them hug so tight. I want them to be able to look back at their images and remember the evening we spent together perfectly.

my boy turned eight

I've written and re-written this post a handful of times. On one hand, I don't want to post anything that's so personal and special to me, and yet on the other, I do want to honor and recognize my son for making a big decision, a good decision. This past weekend was extremely significant and special for Elias, and for our family. On Saturday, Elias was baptized. I won't go into detail except to say that it was a sacred and emotional day for me, and for him.

A few weeks ago, I took him out for some pictures to commemorate this special time in his life.

Portraits of a 2-year-old

You know what they say about the third child.

Well, okay, I'm not really sure what they say about the third child, but I do know that little Miss Maura (said MAH-RA, not MORA) is much more likely to be seen out and about missing one shoe, with her PJ's still on, her hair all crazy-like. She's less likely to get all 5 servings of milk each day (or whatever the recommendation is), and I'm pretty sure I'm okay if she stays in diapers forever, because I just don't have it in me to potty-train right now.

She's HAPPY, oh she's so happy. The happiest of all three of them. She's mischievous as can be (really? butcher knives? Sharpies? toothbrushes and toilets?). She makes me swoon. She makes me crazy. She's as individual as anyone could possibly be at two years old. She's witty, she's sly, she's kind, and I never change her pants when she doesn't say "thank you" afterward. She's a magnetizing child, and I love her to pieces.

picking weeds

I looked out of my kitchen window yesterday and I saw this ... a girl in a chiffon dress and cowboy boots, playing on the hill, picking weeds. Not "pulling weeds", mind you, but PICKING weeds. As in, to put in a vase.
